Good time to visit 3 out of 5

Is October a good time to visit Dubai?

Yes, if you plan around midday: spend 11:00–16:00 indoors and keep the beach and the city for the morning and evening. Compared with April, the sea is warmer but the air more humid, so long walks are harder work.

Weather in October

Mugginess Very high

Near the coast it feels much hotter than the thermometer says.

Good to know

  • Glasses and camera lenses steam up when you step out of air-conditioning; give them a minute.

Sea and beaches

Bath-warm

It does not cool you down: swim early in the morning or in the evening, and use shaded pools at midday.

What to wear in October

  • Loose, light-coloured clothes in breathable fabrics.
  • A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and SPF 50 sunscreen.
  • A light layer: malls, the metro and taxis are strongly air-conditioned.

Dress code all year

  • In malls and other public places, cover shoulders and knees; many entrances show a dress-code sign.
  • Swimwear is for beaches and pools only; cover up when you leave them.
  • To visit a mosque, cover arms and legs; women also cover their hair. Some mosques lend suitable clothing.
  • During Ramadan, dress a little more modestly in public.
